Shasta lives in Calormene with a cruel man who claims to be his father. He sets out for the North as soon as he hears his "father's" intentions. He is planning on selling him as a slave. Bree, a young talking horse becomes his only companion. They meet Aravis, a young girl escaping an arranged marriage and her horse. The children try to find freedom, while they try to reach this goal they uncover a Calormene plot to conquer Narnia.
